Social and economic situation of the Municipal Formation
The Abinsk district is located on the Kubano-Priazovskaya Lowland, in the south-western part of the Krasnodar region.
The largest extent of the territory from north to south is 61 km and from west to east is 30 km. The total area of the district is 1,624.1 square km (that is 2.2% of the territory of the Krasnodar region).
It shares its borders with Krasnoarmeyskiy and Slavyansk districts along the Kuban River in the north, with the Krymsk district in the west, with the Gelendzhik district in the south on the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range, and with the Severskaya district in the east. The landscape is quite varied. The plain occupies more than 60% of the territory, and the old belt of mountains and hills, very different in their geological structure, stretches in the south.
The climate is moderate continental, with no sharp fluctuations of daily and monthly temperature; the duration of the warm period (with a temperature above 0 °C) is 9-10 months, average annual temperature is near +11 °C. Summer lasts for 4-5 months. The average temperature gradually rises from +15 °C in May to +30 °C in August. However, it happens that the temperature decreases to -23 °C in winter months, while the temperature often increases to +35 °C in summer. Annual precipitation reaches 800 mm. Bioclimatic potential is favorable for intensive irrigated agriculture.
Agricultural sector of the Abinsk district has agricultural lands of 72.0 thousand hectares, including 51.4 thousand hectares of farm fields.
The population of the district is traditionally multinational and amounts to 96.9 thousand people. The economically active population is 55.1 thousand people (57.2%).
The potential of the region is represented by labor resources of 28.4 thousand people, of which 6.7 thousand people are employed in industry, 2.8 thousand people in agriculture, 6.5 thousand people in the budget sector, 4.5 thousand people in trade, 1.3 thousand people in transport and communication sphere, and 6.6 thousand people in other sectors of economy.
Industry, agricultural sector, retail and construction is a basis of the economic potential of the district.
In fact, all sectors of economy demonstrated steady positive dynamics during 2017. High growth rates against the level of 2016 were achieved in construction (3.9 times increase), in agriculture (120.0%), industrial production (105.0%), public catering (134.8%) and paid services (107.6%).
19.8 billion rubles have been invested in the economy of the Municipal Formation Abinsk District over the past five years. Only in 2017, the volume of investments amounted to 4.1 billion rubles. The main volume of investments is directed to industry, agriculture, social sphere, housing and utilities.
